Family Dinner

I have been meaning to post this blog for SO LONG!

As most of you know I watched Steve and Nicole's girls while they went to Maui to play for a week. Not only did they have a great time but we did too. It was a great experience and I would do it again in a heart beat, I just love those girls. Of course Lyndz was a big help and the girls feel even more in love with her and Beckam as the week went on.

Since getting back the Wagner's have wanted to take us out for dinner to say thanks for keeping their girls safe and exceeding their expectations, but we've all been so busy we kept putting it off. Then one night, out of the blue, Nicole calls us up and is like, "Can you be at Red Robins in 20 minutes!?!" ummm... YEAH!

We packed up our kids and all meet at Red Robins for an awesome meal and great company. It was such a nice treat and made me wonder why we don't all get together for dinner (more like pot luck though!) more often.

Thanks Steve and Nicole we had a blast! Love you Wagner's!!!!

Advice Needed!!!

AJ has been 2 for a month now and let me tell you he is a whole new kid. over the past month I have watch and unbelievable transformation take place and I honestly can't believe the difference!

AJ has more energy now then ever before. He has always been the kid sitting off to the side playing by himself or with one select Friend. He also love spending time in his room playing cars or looking at books. Well friends, those days are over! AJ's new motto in life is GO-GO-GO. His diet hasn't changed, if anything he is eating less, and yet he is chalk full of energy 90% of the time.

His favorite activity is Jumping. (thank-you Mom and Dad for introducing him to Tigger) He climbs up on anything and everything and then proceeds to throw himself off it. No major injuries so far but every time I put him in shorts I'm afraid people are going to think he's abused. He is covered in bruises from shoulder to shin and everyday he replaces the faded ones with brand new patches of blue, Green, and brown.

If he's not climbing and jumping you will find him running, FAST. He loves to run around the couch, up and down the hall, in and out of all the rooms, and even running around the house backwards. This to has caused a few bruises but mostly it just helps him get ride of energy and increases our downstairs neighbours dislike for us.

I would like to say that AJ is still a great kid, he listens well and dose a great job at playing with others or sharing. Although the high energy is totally manageable these next two trait are the ones I am trying to nip in the butt before it is to late.

Since turning two AJ has discovered his voice or maybe I should say lungs. You may remember a shy little boy sitting in Mom's lap quietly observing the world around him. The new AJ is not only observing he is ask questions, "Mom, Doing?" and "Lyndz Doing?" we can go back and forth answering this simple question for 15-20 minutes. If one of us gets to far away he will simply yell it louder and louder until he gets a response. He likes to yell other things like, "Lyndz!" "Dad" "More" or spending it's 4th week at the top of the charts... "NO!"

Probably the most difficult change I have been dealing with is his new found love of throwing and hitting. Although Age is still fairly passive while playing with his friends, you can call him Mr.Aggressive when it come to time with Mom. Not only will he yell "no" at me he will follow it up with a swipe at which ever part of my body happens to be closest to him. If I am to far away to hit he will pick whatever toy is closet and throw it in my general direction.

So today at Winco everything came together in the perfect storm. When we arrived AJ decided he didn't want to come in and would rather wait in the car, unacceptable. I tried to act like shopping would be fun and told him we were getting more mini wheat's, his favorite, but nothing made him want to join us. I finally picked him up and stood him between our truck and the other car where he proceed to have a tantrum. He cried, yelled, and threw himself on the ground while I quietly stood and let him have a minute. Then I got down to his level and explained that we had things to get, he had to come in, and asked him if he wanted to walk or ride in the cart. Screaming, Crying. I picked him up and carried him at arms length (so he couldn't reach me with his kicks) into the store and plopped him in the cart, were we had another chat.

He was calmer but still pouting and crying a bit. The 20 minutes in the store went pretty well, he happied up a bit when he got to put the fruit into the bags and pick out the cans of soup. The tears however returned when he realized that there would be no animal crackers today. Some women may have just got him some but I wanted him to know that when you cry and yell by the car there is no treats, even if I had to walk around with him crying again.

At the till AJ wanted to get down and when I told him he needed to stay in the cart because we were all done he hit my hands. I got down and told him that you don't hit Mommy and that he needed to say sorry. After a 30 second stare down I told him,
"AJ say sorry"
He put his lips together, filled his cheeks with air and with all the energy and volume he could muster he yell "NO!" Accompanied with a kick to my tummy.

I stood right up, slapped his mouth and pushed him to the end of the check out while I paid and ignored him. It wasn't a hard slap but it surprised us both and he sat and cried at the till until he saw a treat go by on the way to bagging. He asked for one, I ignored him, and then he said....
"Mom, Mom AJ sorry. No be Sad." I went over and he gave me a big hug with a few pats on the back. "Mom happy now!, AJ have treat?" There was no treat but he understood and stayed happy after that.

It was so sucky, I have never had anything like that happen before it was totally out of character for him. I think that letting him have a little space when he is upset and then getting on his level and talking to him about it is the best strategy but I am open to any and all suggestions. I don't want to be slapping his mouth, it was all just to much and it was a reaction.

PLEASE HELP!

Picture Post

I know that you are having a bit of snow back home and I just wanted to put up a few pictures to encourage any of you who are looking for a reason to come on down and visit us in Portland.

Here are the two most obvious reasons:

Already this beautiful...IN APRIL!

Friendly Wildlife,

Short worthy weather,

And the cutest 33 week pregnant girl you will ever see, lol!!!

To Pregnant to Paint

Lyndz got me toe nail polish kit for my birthday since I have none and she has been in charge of my nails for the past few years, lol. I was excited to get home and get some new polish going when I discovered I am simply to pregnant to reach my toes.

I was sitting on the couch feeling sad when in walks my night is shining armor, AARON. That's right folks my sweet husband sat on the floor and painted my toes for me. Not only did he paint them, he did an awesome job.

Thanks so much Aaron, I hope you realize that you have now set the bar so be prepared to paint again, lol.

My Birthday

On my birthday Lyndz had Aaron bring AJ over before leaving for school so I could sleep in. It was so nice to be able to lay in bed and strech before haveing to get up. Plus then I had time to get myself ready for the day without my little side kick.

At 8:30 I made my way down to Lyndz where she had a pancake breakfast all ready to go. I can't remember the last time I had a girls pancake breakfast where I wasn't the one at the grill, maybe that is why they tasted extra scrumptions! Nicole and her girls came over to help eat all the pancakes and get my birthday off to a great start.

We hung out while the kids played and spent the morning relaxing on the couch. Eventually the Wagner girls had to head home and Lyndz, the Boys, and I secided to make our way to Arbys for there 4 for $5.00 deal. Unfortunatly the deal ended on the 26th, boo! So we impravised with $5.00 foot longs from Subway, equally as good.

After napping I got ready and waited for my hot date to show up. Not only did Lyndz watch AJ so I could sleep in she also let us drop him off so that my sweeite and I could have a night on the town. What a great Sister!

Aaron got home and spiffed up a bit and off we went. After a delicious dinner at the Maccaronie grill we wandered the mall and Target and finally made our way home. It was 3 1/2 AJ free hours full of sweet remarks and lots of hand holding, I honestly couldn't think of anything better! Aaron get me a beautiful new comfortor cover that I have been wanting and a family picture frame, since one of my new years goals is to put up more family pictures in our home.

We hit a pretty crazy rain storm while on the interstate and being pregnant I couldn't help by start crying. Not because I was scared, Aaron is a fantastic driver, but because with my crazy brain and all these hormones pumping throught my body I started thinking about if something did happen to us. I pictured AJ waking up in the morning looking for me and asking for us for days and days. Then I thought of him snuggling Lyndz saying, "Lyndz, new mom!" What a nutty pregnant woman I am.

We made it home safe only to find we had locked Lyndz out of our house and they ended up putting AJ to down in their bed. Honestly I was more than happy for a chance to wake him up and give him some snuggles after those silly thoughts. Thanks for making my birthday so great everyone! Love ya

Surprise!

Today is my 25th birthday, I haven't thought to much about it because I wasn't really expecting much celebrating this year. I thought about inviting some girls out for breakfast or something but didn't end up doing anything.

So Saturday night Nicole calls and is like, "Hey I got you a birthday gift but it won't last till Monday. Can you come over quick and pick it up?"

In my head I was like, um...it's my birthday and I am 7 1/2 months pregnant! how about you walk down here. but what I said was "Sure, no problem" lol, what a brat I am!

Anyways I ran over in my PJ'S and what do I find....... SURPRISE!!! Lyndz has organized a little birthday get together in my honer. I was TOTALLY in shock, as you can tell my face and outfit. I was not expecting it at all.

Since Aaron called dibs on my actual birthday Lyndz had to switch her plans to Saturday which threw a few of the girls off meaning they couldn't make it, but those of us who were there had a blast!

Here we are trying our hand at the 10 second timer, no bad! We just sat around eating and visiting. We talked about what we were like in high school and how we fell in love with our husbands. It was pretty cool to learn a little background on each other, you just feel so much closer to people when you have a better idea of what their lives have already held.

Of cores it came down to Nicole, Lyndz, and I (the chatty ones) in the end and we thought we would snap a few more pictures...... I think maybe we had all had a little to much sugar! Honestly I haven't been that surprised in a long time, it was great! THANKS GIRLS!!!
I know this one is a little fuzzy but it's such a classic picture of me and Nicole we are always laughing and being idiots! (Or is that just me!?!)

Oh yeah, Lyndz decorated a cute bag for me but Dustin didn't think it was personal enough so he decided to help out and draw ME on the bag, thanks brother.

Hello from the Night crew

Hey Blogging world,

Just me, Lacey, saying a quick hi to everyone else out there in the world who is up at 2:00AM. Hi Jared. Quite a different little world we live in during the night, quiet, peaceful, full of kicking babies and heartburn.

After having just the awesomest dream complete with being a co-wife to two of my friend, getting re-married in a department store while 9 months pregnant, having my son stolen, and of course Grandma calling with an Emergence..... needing me to take her to re-new her Costco membership, which I then did. In my wedding dress. I woke to raging heartburn and a baby that seems to have the mambo stick in his/her head.

Let me just tell you that I was totally bummed to remember that not only am I out of Zantac but earlier today I found AJ playing with the few tums I had left just in time to see him sneeze all over them. Delicious! Can anyone guess what were running to the store for tomorrow? lol.

Anyways here I am, camped out on the couch with the Gilmore Girls, praying that I might doze off before to to long. So enjoy it people, all the pregnant and new Mom's out there are cruelly aware of how precious those sleep hours really are, lol.

Lace.
